Event Details
Dates: February 3-8, 2025
Location: Lake Mendota, Madison, Wisconsin
Venue: The Edgewater and James Madison Park
Special Feature: This regatta is part of the Frozen Asset Festival, and volunteers can enjoy the best winter festival in the region.
We are looking for volunteers to run the races.
Training specific to the ISSWC event will be provided by Internationally certified Race Committee Chairs, Markus Schwendtner and Marina Psychogyiou on Sunday February 2. An additional public educational session on the topic of Race Committee Organization and management will be presented by Markus and Marina later Sunday.
Except for Protest Jurors, these volunteer positions will be on the ice and require ski clothing or snow mobile wear and good footwear. Volunteer slots are either 3 hours in the morning or 3 hours in the afternoon and will be rotated through warming huts as conditions require. Volunteers will be given hand warmers, carpet pads, ice picks and radios. See below: How to Dress for Hanging Out on the Ice
Event Activities
Volunteers are invited to the pub crawl on Thursday Feb 6, and the closing ceremonies on Saturday Feb. 8th. Of course, all are welcome to try wings/kites at the vendor fair, or you can just groove to the DJ on ice as part of the Clean Lakes Alliance Frozen Assets Festival!
